I feel ill after watching this. Seed and bean oils are abhorrent. It’s so wrong that labelling on these products leads people to believe they’re healthy. 🤬
Rapeseed and canola are a totally different plant wtf lol canola isn’t “derived” from rapeseed oil, it was selectively bread to remove the toxins over years, similar to breading hot peppers. Read a goddamn book for once.
Thank you for the video! But what about organic, non-GMO, unrefined, coldpressed canola oil to use for fx. a homemade dressing (without heating the oil)? Is it still unhealthy?
Wow this video is so filled with falsehood I don't know how it exists. People, please watch a better quality video than this. Everything he mentioned has been so thoroughly debunked, it's like watching Fox News.
First off, let me say that I appreciate the fact that you put so much time and energy into being accurate and factual. Thank you. So I'm curious if you've read the Lyon Diet Heart Study. In this study Canola oil (non-gmo specifically) was used in patients that had heart disease. The results were so profound, 30% reduction in new heart disease in those patients, that they stopped the study 2 years early so they could publish the results so others could reap the benefits. The primary health benefit in canola oil is α-linolenic acid. Dr. Grundy has a really good video on this topic as well. Now non-gmo canola oil is difficult to find, but I wonder if whole foods is using a better oil. Would love to hear your thoughts after you dig a little into what I shared. Thanks again for your work!!
This is a german site. Maybe sponsored by the producers of canola oil. They state, that canola oil has a ratio of 2:1 omega 6 / omega 3. Also there are cold pressed canola oils. So this is all a lie and they can openly lie about it without the state doing anything?
What he fails to tell people is the amount of hexane you ingest from pumping gas into your car is astronomically more than the 2% of your typical daily exposure of hexane from canola oil. The key is to find cold pressed, non deodorized, non bleached oils. I want to try algae oil, but with the pandemic Thrive closed production. They don't put deodorizers in it. It was just too expensive to make.
It’s a total myth that you shouldn’t eat carbs and fat together SMFH. Literally a two minute google search will debunk this. Please stop. Also what about foods that have both carbs and fat naturally in them? Lol…
It completely infuriating how it’s just a greed war. Our government doesn’t care about us. 99% of grocery store shelves are packed with proven inflammatory and carcinogenic ingredients. Good luck finding a hummus brand without canola or soybean oil. You can’t even find plain corn tortillas without lard or coconut oil. Keep us dumb and unhealthy – so much easier to be brainwashed that way!
Hi Thomas DeLauer! Thanks for the video and thanks if you take the time to read this. I few days ago I wrote another comment about canola oil in the context of another video and I was quite surprised about the reactions. I now realize: It seems like the bad reputation of canola oil is mostly an american phenomenon. Over here in Germany it's normal to buy "extra virgin" organic rapeseed oil that hence is cold-pressed, purely mechanically extracted, without the use of hexane and it's not hydrogenated. Of cause this has different properties and especially is less heat-stable and more sensitive to oxidation, it's sold in dark bottles and people understand that it has to be stored in the fridge, pretty much the same story as with flaxseed oil. Also, because of the bad heat stability it's obviously not meant to be used for cooking, but only for salads of for adding after cooking. With these aspects in mind and if used correctly, I don't see a reason why canola oil is bad, infact because of the relatively good omega 3/6 balance and its content in oleic acid I think it's rather good, especially in comparison with most other oils. Historically there were certain amounts of erucic acid to be found in canola oil, which is considered toxic for the heart, but the plants that are used today only have trace amounts of erucic acid. What other anti-nutrients are you talking about? I totally get the point that the "industrial" canola oil that is found in processed food with hardly any exception is highly refined trans fat crap and I'd alway stay away from food that has canola oil in the ingredients list, but I'm not convinced that this is an inherent problem of canola, but the way it often is processed. This is different if you buy it in the bottle and you pay attention what exactly you're buying. In 2018 the well-respected independent product testing company "Stiftung Warentest" did a test of 23 rapeseed oils found in german supermarkets, including a detailed chemical analysis (of course also looking at trans fats). Only 2 of those 23 oils had bad results and interestingly there was no connection between price and quality.
I'm curious: can't you really buy no "extra virgin" canola oil in the supermarket in the US?
On a different matter, regarding the discussion "which oil for what purpose" I'm raising the question if fatty stuff should be heated AT ALL, especially with temperatures beyond 100 °C (=frying, baking). I'm not advertising a raw food diet, but vegetables can very well be just cooked or steamed without adding fat and then some fat for the taste and easier absorption of fat-soluable vitamins and nutrients can be added later, AFTER cooking. The reason for this concern is that apart from the more well known "advanced glycation endproducts" (AGE) also "advanced lipoxidation endproducts" (ALE) totally are a thing, like many other unhealthy chemicals that build up when heat and fats meet. Like with AGEs there are exogenous and endogenous variants of ALEs and those exogenous ALEs are forming whenever nutritional fats meet high heat. Other than conventional/simple oxidation of fatty acids this is a form of non-enzymatic glycation (Maillard's reaction), just like with AGEs, but with fatty acids as a substrate instead of proteins. The problem with these substances is that the body can't break them down and they tend to cumulate as extracellular junk that contributes to tissue aging processes (just like AGEs).
Great video but it wasn't clear that when consuming canola oil, expeller pressed does not use any chemicals in the process but instead squeezes the oil out naturally, which makes it a much healthier option for us.
I would point out that until just a few years ago, canola oil and other seed oils were considered healthy by just about all national and professional authorities.
Preserving foods leads to less waste, lower environmental impact, and saves consumers money all before it increases Whole Foods’ profits.
Combine that with nutritional authorities blessing and dousing everything with canola oil seemed not only efficient but healthy and even moral.
It takes time for nutritional science changes to filter down to the consumer level.
Thank you for having the courage to take on Monsanto's Frankenstein Canola oil. As a Canadian who has brain damage Parkinsonism as a direct result of canola hidden in Canadian food and not identified on the label – once I discovered the truth I have been vilified demonized and attacked, despite the evidence that Canola destroyed my life and will cause brain damage to millions of children world wide for hundreds of years to come. http://www.okra-diet4all.com I discovered at 70 how to control my disease but too late for a cure. God bless you Thomas DeLauer.
So is it bad from a 1 tbsp serving of Italian dressing? I'm doing keto so I'm curious if something that small would be negative. It also has olive oil in it as well.
Whole Foods is a rip off plus they don't treat their employees right. If your Canola Oil is organic and cold pressed or expeller pressed then it contains no trans fat nor hexane. Why didn't you mention that? Stop scaring people on Canola Oil.
I feel ill after watching this.
Seed and bean oils are abhorrent.
It’s so wrong that labelling on these products leads people to believe they’re healthy. 🤬
Rape seed did you say?
Rapeseed and canola are a totally different plant wtf lol canola isn’t “derived” from rapeseed oil, it was selectively bread to remove the toxins over years, similar to breading hot peppers. Read a goddamn book for once.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I'm so happy I came across this information.
Thank you so much for sharing this very important info.
Thank you for the video!

What about Organic Canola? Can’t use Hexane on organic food.

So this claim is completely false then?

How much magnesium do I need to take a day in can I take a magnesium calcium together

Is vegetable oil good to cook with over canola oil?
Corn oil is way worse lol
What about the cold pressed variety? Please explain. Thanks.
Thank you Thomas.

Also there are cold pressed canola oils.

Well a little bit of oil is essential to be able to resorb the fat soluble vitamins.
This proves no one cares about public health.

Damn just bought some fresh pumpkin seed butter at Sprouts and now reading they mixed it with canola oil. Looks like I just wasted my money.
I'm very dubious that canola specifically is as bad as people seem to say it is simply because its been used as a treatment for ALD (Lorenzos oil).
Have you heard of PALM OIL? I have a jar and not sure if it is safe to use..
I’ve noticed Whole Foods uses a lot of cheap ingredients in their salad bar which is really disappointing.
I stopped eating their hot and salad bar a few years ago when I did my research on it.
All canola oils are gmo cold pressed oil is available but I think it tastes terrible
Omg I just found out the healthiest brand I thought has rapeseed oil in them:
OATLY!
Infuriating 😤
Isn't EXPELLER PRESSED canola oil not processed with hexane, whereas normal canola oil is?
What about organic canola oil?

It’s almost impossible to take the family out for dinner with out getting poisoned
Omg there is nothing wrong w expelled pressed canola oil! None of this has been proven,by any health professional!

Thomas, Do you even know what a GMO is and why it is "bad". I am willing to bet you do not.
No wonder I have some sort of body ache whenever I eat a bag of potato chips with canola oil.=INFLAMMATORY
