One of my husband's favorites is a Japanese dish called Omurice, which is just an omelet/frittata on top of a pile of rice and doused in ketchup. Cheap, yummy and uses up bits of leftovers.
So, in price, buying frozen meats vs. Fresh is cheaper?? I see alot of budget meals with frozen meats, I usually grab the fresh in bulk and freeze for later. I'm still trying to get a grip on prices per ounces. Also, a good budget meal is mac and cheese, with any kind of meat, leftover or whatever, with a can of cream of any kind, any kind of veggies you can budget in (or even a can of any type tomatoes), alittle cheese (optional) is great thrown in a casserole, stove top cooked. One of the BEST southern snack or appetizer I've found is a block of cream cheese with any kind of jelly over the top (preferably hot jelly) with crackers, delicious!
One of our favorite (unhealthy but delicious) budget meals is extreme tater tots. It’s literally baked tater tots, a can of chili warmed up, shredded cheese, diced onions, jalapeño slices from a jar and drizzled with ranch. We love it so much, it’s so filling and it’s super tasty. It’s a movie night dinner for us so it’s definitely not an every week dinner but we do it about once a month when we do a family movie night. Sometimes we add a pack of hot dogs and have some grilled hot dogs on the side (or chili dogs). It’s a great meal to make when my son has friends over because what teenage boy doesn’t love junk food and what momma doesn’t love an easy meal to feed them quickly and cheaply?
My little local grocery store has Borden's cheese on sale every 4 weeks for 3/$5.00. it's been this way for about 5 years now. That's a good stock up time. They were changing their store brand last month and I got 1 lb packs of butter (in date) for 1.00, I stocked up, they were Best Choice but I don't care because butter is butter to me. They had salted and unsalted.
Great video-you are an excellent teacher Tam! Also, FYI just letting you know that Ms. Jan (Jan Creson-who recommended your channel to many of us) had a bad fall a few days ago, has had surgery and is on mend. There are updates on her channel under community. 🙏
Great money saving meal ideas. Really like the first one. I do something similar over rice but I do ❤️ tortellini so I will have to switch it up using the tortellini now. 😊

Haven't been here in a bit. I love your haircut! Very pretty.
Great ideas. If you’re really needing to stretch meat, you can take one chicken breast and cut up really small and add more beans.

I'm sorry, what is Spanish rice ? I've never heard of it . I make Mexican rice and it only takes three ingredients .. endless possibilities
