Don't be disheartened! Really appreciate you sharing all these very valuable and lifesaving tips! I think they are very useful even for the average person to optimise their health and live a healthy and fulfilling life!
I really wish I learnt these earlier and hope that more doctors can be like you. Looking at healthcare more holistically, looking at lifestyle and diet instead of just giving medications. Also appreciate how you explain the root cause of the conditions and how various lifestyle choices or foods could help with various conditions. You are a lifesaver and really what a doctor should be, really healing people and educating them more about health
I tried to convince my friends to eat healthy. But all run away from me. Consider as weird
You are so passionate to awaken people to eat healthy. God bless your good works.
My busband thinks healthy food is boring and tasteless
Thank you Dr Chan. Your sharing is practical and useful. A group of us are trying to introduce something of what you're doing with our circle of friend too.
Wow Dr Chan sir I am your fan now ❤️..i find your videos useful on Glycemic index very very helpful to control diet
Yes food is most important human
I have a weight problem and have been looking to lose weight for a while now. I know the misconception is dangerous, and in America in particular, it has a lot to do with how people don't know how to cook for themselves as well. I would love to see some simple recipes for people with little cooking knowledge which are still healthy.
I always wish that there are more restaurant like Dr. Chan's to let the children eat out "safely" and culture healthy eating habit from young. Thank you Dr. Chan!
I didn't know about arsenic and brown rice, so, of course, I went to YouTube to find out more. I came across your video on the topic; after I watched it, I wanted to watch more of your content because it's presented in such a calm, science-backed way from a medical professional. I'm learning so much from you. Your advice is practical and useful and matches the premise of your channel: start small with the right foods and make a habit out of eating healthier. Changing the mindset is key. I want to watch more of your videos to see what changes I can implement. Thank you, Dr. Chan. Keep up the good work. By the way, do you have or are you going to create a cookbook focused on the types of foods you had on your restaurant's menu? -One grateful watcher in Miami
Your cafe changed my weight! It began with changing my misconception about food. After eating your food, I realized that healthy foods do taste better than unhealthy ones. So my weight loss journey began after eating. Over the course of 4 years, my weight changed from 74 kg with 40% body fat to 47 kg, 20% body fat; it literally changed from obese to lean fit.
Doctor Chan, share & give us yr healthly receipe. Will be be very grateful if u can. Thanks.
Same issues here in US. ALWAYS the "converted" are interested, others not so much. However, this is a "movement," and it is growing worldwide. I'm nearly 76, and healthy foods have been a normal reality in my life. My parents had a garden, and we had fresh vegetables and fruit every day. I think it's much easier than people realize. One of the major issues here is the enormous influence of the food producers, who want to offer their processed foods so that we will buy them. Similarly, the medical profession has only recently begun to move away (and only a few of them) from prescription drugs to lifestyle changes. There are encouraging things on the horizon, though, one of the most important being the campaign against smoking. You are not alone. Thank you for your work.
Thank you . It's good to hear of someone who cares an speaks truth. I will be repeating this saying (robing the years of you're life an the life of you're years ).you're message will be heard an will make a difference. Thank you.
Doctor, appreciate what you do here. Ever since I started keto and learning about food and nutrition, I realized there's so much misconception not only with the topic in this video. The global misinformation on fats (especially saturated fats) due to poor and biased research and funding from the sugar industry (Ancel Keys 7 country studies) have lead so many unhealthy and bad food in the market in the past 30-50 years. We were taught that low fat is good but when food industries take out the fat, they replace with sugar and many other "stuff" to bring back the flavors. Now many doctors and medical guidelines are slowly changing, like we used to think cholesterol and LDL are bad (Not sure if you agree, but you definitely have better knowledge than me, ref: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pTXuXk-4b0).
At the start of my keto journey, it's so frustrating when shopping at NTUC or other supermarket where more than 70% of the section I'm browsing were loaded with either sugar or the "better" alternative isn't on the shelf because the market. Like 75% of the oil for cooking are vegetable, seed, corn, oil which many are inflammatory and unstable at high heat, while coconut oil is only 5% of the section available. I used to joke with my friend that "ghee" is such a funny name and that it comes in a can which looks like loaded with preservatives and unhealthy but now I know it's one of the best fat there is.
"Sugar-free" chocolate bars for diabetics which made using Maltitol with GI of 32-52, only half as "sweet" as table sugar. Better sweeteners like Stevia, Erythritol, Monk Fruit is mostly rare and never be found in NTUC or other local supermarket, yet artificial toxic sweeteners like Equal (Aspartame), Splenda (Dextrose, Maltodextrin) are quite common enough. Got to only order online as the general public are not well informed so there isn't demand for businesses to bring in similar to your restaurant business. I really hope that you could do more demystifying and better educate the public so that everyone, including how food are manufactured, could change for the healthier.
I hope there are more like Dr. Chan in the world who are really caring for the healthy conditions of the life of the people by using healthy food in preventing diseases. I encourage new doctors to study further about Nutritions as a course added to your being doctors of medicine where younwill learn that “ food be your medicine.”
